This project comes within the framework of the Ministry of Agriculture’s France-Brazil exchange programme, Brafagri. Its objective is to consolidate the existing links in the fields of agro-science higher education and research between the two countries, to develop exchanges of students and researchers-lecturers, to better understand the courses and teaching methods developed in each country and, consequently, to boost the mutual recognition of the teaching offered.
The project, being conducted by Agreenium and coordinated by Joëlle Chancerel (Agrocampus Ouest), involves the four schools which are members of Agreenium (Agrocampus Ouest, AgroParisTech, Montpellier SupAgro, INPT-ENVT) and three Brazilian universities: São Paulo State University (UNESP) - Universidade Estadual Paulista ‘Julio de Mesquita Filho’, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), and Universidade Federal do Tocantins (Palmas).
As a result of this project, students in the two countries will have access to specialised education courses in the fields of agronomy, food processing and fishery and veterinary sciences, with expert supervision. The project will support the scientific enrichment of all partners. Each institute in the network includes research laboratories of excellence, recognised in their specialist fields. Currently many teaching modules are given locally by lecturers-researchers based on very strong scientific knowledge. Sharing this knowledge is a way of disseminating expertise that too often remains site-specific. This programme also embodies the desire of some institutes involved to offer their students double degrees and to increase their cooperation with research.
